Paul Marnef, fine art photographer and creator of the ‘Imaginary Planets’.

Works and artistic approach

An Imaginary Planet is a creation born from a photograph of the real world, in which I transform the perspectives to compose a circular world. Landscapes, trees and architecture become a subject for exploration, straddling the line between recognition of the place and the imagination. Discover the different approaches in my photographic series.

I take reality as my starting point to shift points of reference and open up alternative interpretations of the image. The circle, light, shapes and colours inform this exploration. My artistic approach develops these intentions and the role of experimentation.

Each work is based on a real photograph, taken in the field, which I transform artistically without betraying its essence. It is not an image generated by artificial intelligence, but rather the result of a shot, a perspective, and a demanding process of composition and post-processing.

I let myself be guided by instinct, by light, by the solitude of a tree, by the rhythm of a landscape. I take photographs in Belgium, France and Spain, but also in the United States. Some places call to me, others surprise me. Magic sometimes emerges from the ordinary: a field in the early morning, a forgotten shore, a tree in the mist.
