Mini planets of Brussels: architecture and photographic perspectives

My ‘Mini Planets of Brussels’ series offers a photographic interpretation of the capital’s architecture and public spaces. From the Grand-Place to the European Quarter, I seek a vantage point capable of transforming a recognisable site into an unexpected composition, somewhere between the memory of reality and the imagination. To explore this reading of places further, discover my photographs of cities and architecture, then my take on Paris.

La Grand-Place: shifting architectural landmarks

The façades, vertical lines and openings combine to form a dense visual space. By altering the perspective, I create a dialogue between these elements centred on a focal point. The city remains recognisable, but its structure takes on that of an autonomous photographic world.

The European Quarter from a different angle

The buildings of the European Parliament offer a different interpretation of space. Contemporary lines, volumes and surfaces become the stuff of composition. I seek to go beyond a mere description of architecture to offer a visual experience.

Between the memory of a place and the imagination

The photograph preserves the imprint of a real place. Digital manipulation then rearranges the horizon and distances. A square or an esplanade can thus evoke a planet, an eye or an almost abstract structure: I prefer to leave these interpretations open rather than fix them.

Photographing Brussels, constructing an image

The choice of viewpoint remains essential. The relationships between the buildings, the light and the available space shape the possibilities for transformation. My artistic approach explains this transition from reality to creation.
