Tourinnes-la-Grosse is where the history of artist trails began. The Saint Martin Festival is now in its 59th year. This event was initiated by ceramic artist Max van der Linden. It attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. It is not a museum, but an artistic event that goes far beyond the purely local context. It is a cultural itinerary in Walloon Brabant that occupies houses, barns, gardens, churches, and a few communal spaces. Residents open their doors to the artists. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, installations, and photographs are on display. A performance and an opening concert accompany the program. In Chaumont-Gistoux, a biennial artist's trail brings the town and its villages to life: Chaumont, Gistoux, Longueville, Bonlez, Dion-le-Mont, Dion-le-Val, Corroy-le-Grand, and Vieusart. It's particularly close to my heart for two reasons. I exhibit my creations there and also volunteer as a community manager. I help promote the work of artists. Painters, photographers, watercolorists, sculptors, and ceramists participate. Visitors discover workshops and homes transformed into temporary galleries.
