Welcome to the FAQ section of Paul Marnef, fine art photographer and creator of the Imaginary Planets.
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the artistic process, limited edition prints, printing techniques, ordering, and delivery.
Artworks and Artistic Approach
What is an Imaginary Planet or a mini planet?
Imaginary Planets are photographic artworks created from 360°x180° spherical panoramas, then artistically transformed. The result is a poetic, floating world that seems suspended between reality and imagination — like a dream captured in pixels.
What is your artistic approach behind the Imaginary Planets?
My approach is poetic and contemplative. I start from a real place and transform it into a new world, full of emotion, light, and meaning. Each artwork invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and escape through an unexpected visual journey.
Are your artworks edited photographs or digital creations?
Every artwork begins with a real photograph taken on location. I do not use AI-generated images. The creative process involves careful composition, transformation, and post-processing, while staying true to the original essence of the scene.
How do you choose the locations you photograph?
I follow my intuition. Some places simply speak to me — an isolated tree, a quiet field, a misty morning. I photograph in Belgium, France, Spain, and the U.S. The landscapes I choose often have a strong emotional or visual presence.
Are your artworks signed and numbered?
Yes. Each print is hand-signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. All works are available as limited editions, usually between 5 and 15 copies depending on size and finish.
Prints and Finishes
What printing finishes do you offer?
I offer a selection of premium fine art finishes:
Chromaluxe: sublimation on aluminum, very durable, glossy and modern.
FineArt prints: on Hahnemühle Photo Rag or Rag Metallic paper, mounted on Alu Dibond.
Plexi Diachrome FineArt: acrylic glass mounting for a sleek and luxurious look.
Circular (100 cm diameter), square, or rectangular formats, depending on the artwork.
Can I order a print framed or unframed?
Yes. You may choose:
Unframed (ready to hang with wall mounts),
With a floating frame (also called an American box),
Mounted behind Plexiglas for a premium gallery finish.
What sizes are available?
Each work is available in various sizes:
Small formats: affordable and collectible,
Medium formats: usually around 50 x 50 cm,
Large formats: up to 120 x 120 cm or 120 cm in circular format.
Are your artworks really limited editions?
Absolutely. Each print is produced in a strictly limited edition, numbered and signed, with no unnumbered copies produced.
