My black-and-white fine art photographs offer a colour-based entry point into my world. I am interested in black both for the depth it provides and as the space surrounding a subject. It can isolate a material, bring out a light or lend a different density to a form. My Imaginary Planets series, in which black features, are not all in black and white: some also create a dialogue between black and colour.
This gallery brings together works in which I have incorporated the colour black. This shade may dominate the composition or appear only in subtle touches. The selection evolves alongside my creations and their associated colours. Click on a thumbnail to open the artwork’s details page and discover the printing options available.

Black: a space given to forms
I invite you to look at what appears in the dark areas and what they reveal in the lit-up sections. An outline, a movement or a texture sometimes takes on greater significance when the background fades away. This selection based on the colour black spans several approaches in my work; it does not replace my series devoted to black and white.
To take this exploration further, I’d like to share my approach to my artistic practice. You may also wish to read my reflections on fine art photography within an interior. The choice of a colour offers a starting point; your relationship with the work remains essential.
Explore my black-and-white fine-art photographs
If you envisage a dark photograph in your home, consider its contrast and the details that catch your eye. The viewing distance, lighting and presentation of the print should then be considered as a whole. A simulation provides a guide; it remains a projection, not an actual installation.
My display simulations and the page on formats and presentations will help you to explore your options further. Finally, if several works appeal to you, please tell me what you like about each one. I can then guide you in your choice, taking into account your space and your personal taste.
To extend your visit, discover how I create the Imaginary Planets and my tips for hanging a fine art photograph. You can also explore other themes, colours and locations.
